# 149: Konkrete Jungle, NYC

12 years ago, a friend of mine took me to my first DnB event. Its was at Konkrete Jungle NYC, and i believe i saw Aphrodite. If not at that first night, i know i saw him perform at KJ sometime that year, as i fell in love with DnB and was at KJ a few times. Due to school, then more school, then work, and KJ being on Monday nights, I actually have not been back to KJ since those early days. That means I've also never had the opportunity to Dj there. Which makes this night a big deal for me. My KJ debut was something I've been thinking about for years.

Unfortunately there was a problem with the speakers and the mixer this night. Everything was crunchy and distorted, and the bass and main speakers kept blowing out every 10 minutes or so. Few people told me it was the worst sound they have ever heard at KJ. Just my luck. Even when the sound was fine, it was way to loud. I Dj'd after Dara and Empress, so it was a big night in terms of DnB in NYC, but the sound hurt the crowd. Still lots of people dancing, good vibes for sure. I played from 2-3 and dropped some harder will miles tunes, as well as the usual stuff i play. As usual, when i played a Kjell tune, someone runs up and asks who wrote it. People go crazy when i drop Kjell tunes, he is such a prolific producer.

The microphone did not work either, which means no vocal contribution from Diggaddee or Human who were both on the mic. Still fun, wish the sound was on point, hope to play KJ again for sure.

Producers i'm currently supporting...

In the last few months, i've noticed lots of people asking me about the tunes i've been playing so i wanted to let everyone know what i'm into at the moment. Lately my sets consist mainly of unreleased tunes by US producers: Random Movement, Mixmaster Doc, Sinistarr, Kjell, Raw Q, Submorphics, Will Miles, Stunna, Sable Gray, Dave Owens, Calculon, and myself. I'm also playing a few tunes by Lynx, Calibre, Alix Perez, Data, and Dbridge among others. But mainly its those US guys. Its amazing how many strong US producers there are now.

# 148: 100% Original @ Public Assembly, Brooklyn

Musically this was the best 100% yet i think. Udachi started off with sick electro house nu-rave and dubstep, excellent set. Raw Q, as usually, played wonderful deep rolling melodic, funky DnB, with a slick house tune thrown in the middle of the set. Really went off. Sinistarr had the set of the night. His DnB is minimal, deep, creeeepy at times. One minute he's rolling out a deep funky tune, then he brings these glitchy bouncy minimal tunes. Really diverse, really fun and original DnB. Great vibe from the crowd with his set. Hellfire Machina was excellent, the best dubstep i've ever heard live. Tons of funky melodic tunes, classic vocals and rmx also. He played a great rmx of Nirvana's "Something In the Way". Excellent ending to the night. I got to play a few of my tracks to the best reception yet, i played the new stuff (Falling on the Ice, Hard To Tell) and they went over huge, lots of good feedback. Smaller crowd than the last one, but still a great night, thanks to everyone who came out!
