Booking #179: Standout, Brooklyn

Not a large turnout but it was a fun night. I really enjoyed Strife's set. Thanks to the promoters!

Booking #178: Direct Dive Loft, NYC

Super excited to SOL.ID back in NYC at the Direct Drive Loft, he's a friend and someone i have collaborator with a few times. Excellent Dj! The sound was not particularly great this evening, something I've been assured will not happen again. The loft however was cool, and recently refurbished, so it looked great. Turnout was good, not great, the vibes however were excellent. Mamiko Kushida was the guest VJ, an excellent companion to the music. Christian Bruna played a great set, harder set than i usually enjoy, but it was excellent, he's a professional who has been doing this for a long time and knows how to build a set. Much respect to CB! Beatchemist and Trigon did not get to perform what they intended to unfortunately. The sound was just not working right at certain points in the evening. Much apologies to those talented individuals. I ended up closing the night from about 2-3. Not the best night, but not every event is a winner. Looking forward to next month's Loft party for the return of the better sound, and Sinistarr in NYC!

Booking # 177: Droppin Science, Philly

This was my 3rd time playing Philly, and by far the best time i've had. This is a new party, run by great people who are really into the music. Mostly DnB all night, although a very wide range of styles, with some dubstep and hiphop downstairs.

Beau's set was awesome, as usually. He has been Djing for 15+ years, so he really knows how to work a set. He played that rolling style that is is known for, playing tunes from last week to 10 years ago. It was good that I got to play an old school set at DD last week on vinyl, because it was good practice for this set. I played serato on vinyl for this gig, just like riding a bike.

I've been playing lots of fresh smooth funky DnB lately, with deep clean heavy bass line dance tunes, and this night was no exception. Lots of Sinistarr, cant get enough of his stuff lately. Also playing a lot of The Insiders, Random Movement, Raw Q, Kjell, Mixmaster Doc, Jubei, Spectrasoul, and some of my own tunes. People seemed to appreciate the tunes i played and the vibe i was trying to bring.

The monitors were not setup properly so it was a tad hard to hear, but sound was on point for sure. With the monitor and laptop in front of me, even as tall as I am, I could only see a portion of the club while i was playing, which is unfortunate, because its hard to play to a crowd that you cant quite see. It was a massive place, so the portion i did see has a good amount of people in it. Turnout for the night was very good, although a lot of people stayed outside most of the night to smoke. Its typical, and the smaller the scene the more people are outside I've noticed, i think because they all know each other and are not there necessarily to dance but to socialize. All in all, i got to play a real nice club for a good amount of people, vibes were good, totally a fun night. Much respect to Pena and the Droppin Science crew!

Booking # 176: Direct Drive Old School Night

Really fun night! The first time i've played vinyl in over 2 years. I pulled out my old records for my old school opening set from 10-11:30. Some of the tune i played were the first records i purchased, the ones that i fell in love with and helped me find my own style of dnb. Old Breakbeat Science records. 720, hospital, Soul:r. Great stuff. Felt good to play vinyl also, no setup was great. Just like riding a bike. It was quality music all night with great sets all around from Eshin, Raw Q, DJ Seoul, and Dj Seen. Looking forward to the next old school night!

Booking # 175: Telluric Activity @ Crash Mansion, NYC

This party was presented by Telluric Recordings, a night of quality dnb for sure. Stunna and Submorphics headlined with a tag set, great stuff, mostly things i've never heard before. I got to play 12-1 which was a great set time, unfortunately the turnout was not what was expected, however it was a fun night. Big up the crew!

Booking # 174: Konkrete Jungle, NYC

Konkrete Jungle is the longest running DnB party in the world. It was the first DnB weekly i went to back in 97 or so, when it was at The Wetlands. That said, alot has changed since then. Its still run by the same awesome promoter, they still are respected and they have great sound, but the turnout has suffered. This ended up being one of the last nights at this venue for them, a place they have been for many years. While i had a good time playing this party, it was quite empty. Still have to thank them for having me out, looking forward to playing the party at its new venue, LOVE.
