Driven AM is proud to announce that this is the beginning of a new monthly DnB party at Public Assembly in Brooklyn to be held the first Saturday of every month starting January 2009. We are in talks with major US and UK names to perform.

Booking # 132: Inner City Soul @ Sapony, Astoria

I like this venue, and i like the crew that throw this party, but this event was just as bad as their event last month. Their were more people, but it was still very slow and it was a way to big place. I also think charging $10 for locals in a bit of an out of the way place was not a good idea. To top it off, there were no monitors are all. I had a real hard time playing without monitors as expected, it was horrible. And the turntables were on a table that was very low... I'm about 6 foot 3 inches tall, i need a tall table. Very disappointing.

Booking # 131: Future Funk by Direct Drive @ Sullivan Room, NYC

Strife and I played a great set together for this even. 2 hours set, which is always nice. I played a bunch of brand new original stuff. I believe i played 5 of my own tunes which is a personal record. There were not many people there, kinda disappointing. Still fun times, and Strife is great to play alongside.

Booking # 130: Doojee @ Club Europa, Brookyn

Europa is a HUGE club in Brooklyn. I would love to play the main floor of this place one of these days. I played in the 2nd room, downstairs. A nice room with horrible equiptment and only a few people is how i would describe the night. Total disappointment. But Strife played a great set. There was a small crowd upstairs but this was definitively not the night the promoter was expecting. Good efforts all around thu, good people, potentially great venue as long as they fix the equiptment.

Booking # 129: Direct Drive's 10 Year Anniversary @ Sullivan Room, NYC

10 years of Direct Drive! I've been with DD for 5 of those years come January, its been a crazy journey! As i've said before Sullivan Room is my favorite place to DJ at. The set up is quality and the booth is slick, and the club itself is excellent with a great sound system. Always good vibes here to, accept that its rather large and can feel kinda empty unless its packed. I played from 10-12 which is a set a really enjoy as you cant usually get a 2 hours set unless you open, the other dj's play for 1 hour or 90 minutes. My set ended up being about 1:45 since the sound guy was late, and it was slow for the first 30 minutes, but then people started coming in and it turned into a great night. I recorded the set, it has the debut of a bunch of my original tunes as well as my collaboration with Mixmaster Doc which should be released in the near future. :) My first release! Enjoy the mix, its gotten over 4,000 downloads since it was posted the day after this show. Many of them are coming from Baidu, so i'm huge in China.... ;)

Booking # 128: Shake and Bake @ The Black Hole, Baltimore Maryland

Mike (Random Movement) and I drove down from NYC to Baltimore for this event, which was the Baltimore debut of both of us. It ended up being a real fun couple of days. The venue it self was very cool. I assume it used to be a large house (or still is?) because the layout and separate rooms reminded my of a home, especially the upstairs. The downstairs where Mike and i played was large, with a nice sound system. Designed for rock bands, but still sounded great, bass heavy. I has a hard time with the distorted rock monitor on the ground, which made mixing difficult, but i played alright overall. The place was huge and among all the rooms I imagine there were about 125 people there. Nice dancing crowd for our sets. This was totally a rave style place and crowd, but it was awesome to see them get into the deeper funkier side of drum and bass. Big up the Black Hole Baltimore crowd, we met a bunch of cool people. Hope to be back soon.

Booking # 127: Secret Night Of Science 2 Year Anniversary @ Love, NYC

Fantastic Night! 13 months go i worked with DB on a Driven AM showcase at his party Secret Night Of Science (SNOS) at Club Love in NYC. That night featured Raw Q, Saburuko (on the Driven AM roster at the time) and myself, alongside the SNOS residents. This year i was organizing a tour for a friend, amazing producer and member of the Driven AM roster, Random Movement and i reached out to DB. RM, Raw Q and myself represented Driven AM at this night and what a great night it was. Love has the best sound system in the world. Fabio actually said that a few months back after his sound checked there. The bass is incredible, and never in my life have i enjoyed a speaker system so much and still been able to speak to people in the room, it was actually at a good level and not too loud. Huge bass on that system. HUGE. This place has 3 rooms including a 'fragle rock' room, and is the best club in NYC in my opinion.

I tagged with Nychavok, a local NYC guy. Our styles did not mesh very well, and we only had 1 hour, plus i think he had a few technical difficulties, so i hardly felt like i played which is a huge disapointment beause that dj booth is incredible. Still fun playing for the 25 minutes or so that i got to. (I jumped back on latter in the evening and played the last tune of the night, Adam F - Circles, great ending)... Random Movement played a fantastic set, it was actually the first time in NYC that he has played a solo set. High energy, bass heavy, bouncy, deep, liquid dnb, with a few classic Dnb tunes from 95 or so thrown in here an there seamlessly. He really impressed me and the crowd. He will be back in NYC soon.

The crowd was large and into the music, about 200 inside. Good vibes, although the Love crowd is somewhat less rowdy and passionate about DnB then your usual DnB crowd, more of a club crowd with a good chunk of junglists in the mix. It is an honor to play at the club and work with this party. I can't wait for the next time. Many many thanks to DB, Rod, Nychavok and the rest of the Snos crew!

Booking #126: Inner City Soul @ Sapony, Astora

Inner City Soul is a new party that started up in Astoria, which excites my because I can actually walk to the venue. Great venue, nice size, dancefloor, the sound system is huge. The Dj has a nice view of the venue also, which is conducive to reading the crowd. The equiptment however is not of good quality. I was ashured there would be "pioneer cdjs", which was true, only they were Pioneer 100's. I cant really do much with those at all, accept maybe use them for a coaster. I did not bring and vinyl so i just winged it on these "cdjs", dare i even call them that...The mixer was also shit, no Eq's at all. I actually played well, or so some people told me. Bad part is that again there were not that many people there. It was a thursday which might have hurt it, next month they are moving to a Friday Night. Hopefully more people come out next month when i'm playing again, its a fantastic club, good dj's and its easy to get to from just about anywhere.

Booking # 125: Dream @ Bar Bleu, NYC, Tagging with Strife

It is always a pleasure to tag with Strife, her and I have a similar style although we like different tunes for the most part. I think our contrast is great. Unfortunately this night there was another, much larger DnB party in Brooklyn. That had a big effect on attendance, which was a big disappointment as this was the one year party. Still good vibes and good people. Strife and i played alright. We really need at least 2 hours in my opinion to have a great set... 3 would be ideal. This looks to be my last gig at Cafe Deville for a while as the promoter is moving onto bigger and better things in the future. Much success in the future!
