Fun night. It was the first official Driven AM Showcase in Florida and my first time Djing in the state. Its quite rare when the whole gang gets to hang out together so this was a real pleasure. Unfortunately Mixmaster Doc's first flights were canceled and despite driving 5 hours to try and get to another airport, he was unable to attend the event. He was missed, but i played a few of his tunes at the end so his presence was felt. Happened to be a very rainy, gray day in Ft. Lauderdale, although it did let up during the night. The venue it self was a massive 3 room club, we had the main floor. Sound was a bit iffy, one side would cut in and out constantly when the CDJ was in use. Eventually we kinda worked it out, by not using the CDJ's much. Funky night of music, Sinistarr was glitchy, tribal, funky, crunchy. Strife was smooth, played some halftime stuff, originals and rmxs alongside the usual choice liquid selection. DB had the set of the night and got the best crowd reaction, went oooold school, played a bunch of great classics, still using the original vinyl and they still sound great. Then got harder and deeper. Awesome stuff. Random Movement played that deep, bass heavy liquid roller sound that he is known for. I ended the night with a mixup of haftime tunes and even some dubstep just to give it a change of pace. Good vibes inside the venue, although there could have been more people there. Many thanks to the promoters, lots of fun. Looking forward to WMC this year!
