Booking # 122: Respect, LA - Driven AM Showcase

Wow!  Respect LA is one if, if not the best Drum and Bass night in America.  Going strong for around 10 years, these guys are on the top of their game.  They have a big following, every time I've been here its been packed.  They have a true venue and sound system, 1-2 room plus an outdoor bar which is awesome.  It is always an absolute pleasure to work with them.  This night was special for a few reasons.  It was the first official Driven AM showcase promoted as such at Respect and in LA.  Mixmaster Doc and myself represented the crew.  It was the first of 2 shows on the west coast for Doc and I, such a great time seeing the cities with good friends.  This was also the best time slot i've ever had at Respect.  I got to play 11:20-12:30, right before Doc went on.  As i mentioned this place is always packed and this night was no exception, great crowd, responsive to lots of different styles, bass heavy music in general was truly appreciated.  I was very happy with my set, the sound and equipment was perfect so I was really able to let loose and focus on the music.  I started a bit harder than usual and rolled it out for a bit before bringing it down with some halftime stuff, then i brought it back up again with some melodic funky rollers (Random Movement - Waterlogged; Dave Owen - Sucker Love; Eveson - Marley).  Fun diverse set, as usual.

The vibe after my set was memorable.  At least 25 people came up to me telling me they loved my set and thanking me for helping to make the event happen.  Met alot of new people, very cool vibes in there, certainly the best LA experience i've ever had.  MMDoc played from 12:30 - 2 and focused most of his set on his own original tunes.  Awesome experience to see a packed club vibing to doc's original tunes and his many collaborations.  We were all very happy with the night.  Good opening set by Clutch too.  Much RESPECT to the Respect crew, lots of love from the Driven AM family, see you again soon!
